About the artist

“Despite wind, rain and snow, there were chances to work outside. I have been wandering shores, piers, and harbours for inspiration. And enjoy a cèilidh with friends and neighbours at the end of the day!”

About the artist

“As someone who is still exploring their artistic practice, I tend to focus on concepts that excite me, primarily my interests and things I am passionate about, as this is where I draw most of my inspiration from. I enjoy many styles of art including two dimensional and three-dimensional practices, due to this I use many different materials and mediums preferring to suit the media to the individual project.”

“Right now, I am working on discovering how I want to put myself out into the world through my work. I am inspired by both abstract art, such as Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer, as well as traditional realist painters like Rembrandt. I have enjoyed pushing myself to create pieces of art I never thought myself capable of achieving before.”

About Contemporary Art Practice HNC

Contemporary Art Practice HNC, which you can study from our Portree centre, allows you to develop and express your artistic side - and even make a career from it.

The course will allow you to explore the practice and context of contemporary art through such mediums as drawing, painting and sculpture, with up-to-date topics such as conceptual processes and digital art form.

You will develop your inquiring, analytical and problem-solving skills in tandem with technical and artistic skills, ensuring that you are suitably equipped to turn your artistic talent into a successful career.

Starting September, our brand new Contemporary Art Practice HND will take your body of work to the next level. HNC and HND courses allow you to build your qualifications flexibly, and can be topped up to a degree or used for direct entry into year 2 or 3 of a degree.
